Student Reader applications:

If you know a student who would is interested in becoming a student reader on the Intermediate, Teen, or High School Selection Committees, please share the corresponding application listed below. Please make sure they read the requirements at the top of the application. It is a challenging but rewarding experience!

Please note, we are not accepting applications from high school seniors and will not have student readers on the Elementary Book Award Selection Committee.

We’d like to have the students submit the applications electronically but if needed, you can print out the form and attach the essays to be mailed to the chairperson(s).

Please take the time to read the requirements at the top of the application so you know what to expect if you are chosen to be a member of a Nutmeg selection committee.

All applications & recommendation letters must be received by Sunday, November 15th. 
You will be notified before the new year if you have or have not been selected to be on one of the Committees.

About the Nutmeg Book Award

The Nutmeg BookAward encourages children in grades 2-12 to read quality literature and to choose their favorite from a list of nominated titles. Jointly sponsored by the Connecticut Library Association (CLA) and the Connecticut Association of School Librarians (CASL),the Nutmeg Committee is comprised of children's librarians and school library media specialists who are members of our sponsoring organizations.

The Four Levels of Nutmeg:                                                                           

Elementary Award:  Grades 2-4  (15 nominees each year)

Intermediate Award:  Grades 4-6  (10 nominees each year)

Teen Award:  Grades 7-8  (10 nominees each year)

High School Award:  Grades 9-12  (10 nominees each year)
