Interested in serving on a Nutmeg committee? Applications are now open!  Deadline extended to November 18.

The Nutmeg Selection Committees are currently seeking students and librarians to help choose
the 2019 Nutmeg Book Award Nominees.

These committees will start meeting in early 2017 and will work together through early 2018.

Student Applications Please carefully read the requirements at the top of the application. 
It is a challenging but rewarding experience!
   Intermediate (students in grades 6 or 7)
   Teen (students in grades 8 or 9)
   High School (students in grades 10 or 11)

  Please note, we are not accepting applications from high school seniors 
  and will not have student readers on the Elementary Book Award Selection Committee


*NEW* Recommendation Form
   Every student who applies to be on a committee will need a recommendation from a teacher or librarian.
   Instead of a letter, we are asking the teacher or librarian to fill out a recommendation form. 

   Filled out by a teacher or librarian:

   Intermediate Recommendation Form (students in grades 6 or 7)
   Teen Recommendation Form (students in grades 8 or 9)
   High School Recommendation Form (students in grades 10 or 11)

Librarian Applications Please fill out an application for the committee that is your first choice.

All applications and recommendations must be received by the end of the day on Friday, November 18th

You will be notified before the new year if you have or have not been selected to serve on a committee.

About the Nutmeg Book Award:  The Nutmeg Book Award encourages children in grades 2-12 to read quality literature and to choose their favorite from a list of nominated titles. Jointly sponsored by the Connecticut Library Association (CLA) and the Connecticut Association of School Librarians (CASL), the Nutmeg Committee is comprised of children's librarians and school library media specialists who are members of our sponsoring organizations.  

There are four levels of Nutmeg:

Elementary Award:  Grades 2-4 (15 nominees each year)
Intermediate Award:  Grades 4-6 (10 nominees each year)
Teen Award:  Grades 7-8 (10 nominees each year)
High School Award:  Grades 9-12 (10 nominees each year)
